Who Supplies Us?
- Vicker's Game
Alan Vicker's butchery is in nearby Ashampstead. He supplies us with all our meats and cooked meats. Well known locally for the quality of all of his meat but in particular he has a strong reputation for the quality of his game.
- Fishers
Jeff Fisher is based in Newbury and supplies really good fruit and vegetables. Most of what we buy was in the Covent Garden market the night before so Jeff can ensure the freshness of what he sells. We work together to ensure our menus reflect the seasons.
- Frosts of Reading
Sean is a busy fishmonger in Reading. We purchase sides of white fish, salmon and a wide range of shell fish. Working closely we regularly adapt the menu to ensure that the fish we offer reflects what is available in the market.
- Lodden Brewery
Chris is the most new recruit to our supply chain and to be honest his beers are great. What started out as a recommendation from one of the customers has resulted in us having a new best selling ale. If you have not tried Ferryman's Gold then I urge you to do so, its one of the best local beers you will ever try; it did after all win the Silver Award at this year's National Cask Ale Festival.
- West Berkshire Brewery
Dave Maggs is extremely well known in the local area for the quality of his cask ales and has been a huge support to us when we reopened the Bull. His Good Old Boy remains a popular beer which considering it competes with five other ales is a reflection of how good this beer is. When you call in look out for his latest monthly brew.
- Rebellion Brewery
The boys at Marlow have long been friends and for some reason we have not had them on our recognised list of great Suppliers. For this I unreservedly apologise. Not often found round these parts the beers from Marlow are really very good and their 2009 range of Financial Crisis beers are proving to be very popular.
- Susie's Preserves
Locally made preserves are not always easy to get hold off but Susie makes some of the nicest jams and chutneys. In addition to the traditional preserves we also offer chilli jelly, fig chutney and small pickled shallots.
- Merryfield Farm
Growing locally in Tutts Clump we buy all of the root crops and most of our summer fruit from Peter and his family. If you visiting at the weekend its well worth a visit to see what is in season.
